Iran promises to uphold “brotherly relations” and denounces the attack on Pakistanis.

An armed attack in Iran’s Saravan city claimed the lives of nine Pakistanis. Islamabad had called the incident a “heinous crime” and urged Tehran to bring charges against those guilty. This happens weeks after Iran and Pakistan claimed to have carried out airstrikes on one other’s territory in reprisal for terrorist acts.

The attack that took place in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, which is close to Iran’s border with Pakistan, was “strongly condemned,” according to a statement issued on Sunday by Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Unknown assailants launched an attack on Saravan on Saturday. According to Iran’s semi-official news source, Mehr News source, no group or individual has yet claimed credit for it.
